Community Solar Power Station in Africa!
Recently while visiting some friends somewhere in Africa, I got a chance to visit one very successful solar energy power station that serves a large community, they call it village. The goal of the project which was started just a few years ago was to provide lighting and warm water to the community. There was no electricity in the area. Majority of the people have been trained on how to build their own solar power generators from home using local materials. This option worked well for this community mainly because of the reliable solar energy resource and the lack of other options.
My point here is there is a better option for practically every energy need situation. The same community in Africa could have well used wind power, but due technology and cost they chose what they could afford. They could as well use magnetic homemade generator technology for individual homes, but since magnetic generator invention is fairly new, solar panel power seemed to work best.
In a world where global warming is becoming a real problem the least we can do as individual is to look for ways to build energy systems in our homes that are eco-friendly.
